Goodbye, Roxy

We have had the pleasure of having Roxy be in our lives for the past 5 years. What a great dog! We got her from my in-laws (who own her mother) just a few months before we had Mason. Our kids have grown up with a dog around and have really truly loved her.
What is sad is how much I am NOT a dog lover. Hate me, but I just never grew up with a dog as a true "pet" or one to occupy a space in the house. With the birth of baby #3 rapidly approaching and a year ahead of unknown crazy, it was time to find a good home for our sweet dog.
We found a loving owner of another boxer who came and picked her up Sunday. Roxy couldn't be going to a better home where she'll have another dog to play with and even a warm bed of some kid that will use her as a body pillow, I'm sure!
It has been bitter-sweet, considering Mason loved Roxy with all his heart. He cried when we told him we'd be getting rid of her. He even asked Sterling what else we could give away instead of Roxy...oh it was tender!
We gave Roxy her last bath at our place and the kids slept with her in the living room that night. They played "puppy" with her for well over an hour late into the night. We know we'll have good memories and great stories to tell of the dog we once had, our dear Roxy!
