What I am Learning...

...About being a mom is:
When helping my two kids choose between anything (i.e. different movies, snacks, book to read), and there is not time or realistic measures for the kids to have both of their choices, I look at who is more sensitive at the moment. Who is the kid that will break down in tears and be crushed if their choice is not chosen. This is who's choice I do not start with when doing "eenie-meenie-minnie-mo". It works out in the end (with only two choices mind you) that the more sensitive/explosive child's pick will be picked by M-O-M, who's decision is all important and final in the decision. No whines or melt-downs of said child! In fact, pure bliss and happiness exudes from their face and everything is right in the world! This method saves much heart-ache and wailing at our house.
Such as tonight, when Marissa wanted to watch an episode of Kung Fu Dinos on Netflix, and Mason wanted The Pink Panther. Marissa didn't nap today, was seconds away from crying as it was and to not get her choice would have made ME snap. Strategically choosing her movie was like heaven, especially when she jumped up and down saying how happy she was that her movie was picked! Yes, heaven indeed!
